Mission

The Commonwealth Research Center (CRC), based at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC) and under the direction of Larry J. Seidman, Ph.D., is a joint program of the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry (HMS) and the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH). The specific mission of the CRC, as articulated by the DMH, is to stimulate research on the biological basis of psychosis and the optimal treatment for severe mental illness. The CRC is investigating the underlying mechanisms and the manifestations of psychotic illnesses and the optimal treatments for persons with severe and persistent mental illness including the early intervention and prevention of psychotic disorders.
